Resource for Sites, Teachers, and Parents: Moving for Muscular Distrophy

Thanks to Yaffa at 188th street for providing us with this information – getting kids moving for a great cause….

April is disability awareness month.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is conducting a Hopathon for children 2.5 to 8 years old.  The Hopathon includes relay races and other exciting activities for children to do, all while raising money and awareness of a worthy cause.

It is completely free, and participating parents and children are provided with information, resources, and activities.  Participating teachers are given 3 fifteen-minute lesson plans.

For more information, check out their website: www.mdaevent.org/trili2013hop.

Set up a date and a coordinator will call you to help you prepare for it.

The number to call in case someone is interested is 516-358-1012  – Sharon will be happy to assist your site in getting set up.

Oh, and speaking of disabilities awareness… please make sure that any child at your site with a suspected delay in an domain, is being addressed.
